Science Week in 3rd Class
18th Nov 2025
As part of Science Week and to celebrate World Diabetes Day on Friday the 14th of November, Mr. O Dwyer's 3rd class explored how our bodies use sugar for energy through a range of hands-on experiments. The children investigated hidden sugar in everyday drinks and watched a balloon inflate during our yeast-and-sugar reaction, showing how living things use energy. We also practised the safe and simple demonstration of injecting “insulin” into an orange, helping pupils understand how some people manage diabetes. The class loved becoming young scientists—making predictions, testing ideas, and learning about the importance of healthy choices in an engaging and meaningful way
