Letter from Junior Infant teachers

3rd Apr 2020

Hi boys and girls,

We hope you are all good and getting on well with the work we sent home to you.

Here are some more activities that you can do while you’re at home.

Draw a house and put all of the ‘ip’ family words in, for example: zip, tip. Draw a second house and put all of the ‘an’ family words in, for example: tan, ban.

Counting activities: count up to and back from 5. Then count up to 10. Have someone at home ask you questions like ‘what comes before 2 / what comes after 3. Write out the numbers 1 – 5 on small squares of paper and mix them up. See how fast you can put them in order. Have someone at home take away a number while you close your eyes and see can you figure out what number is missing.

Find 5 things in your house that are buí (yellow) and 5 things that are dearg (red).

Watch RTE’s Home school Hub at 11 am each day.

Continue to take part in ‘PE with Joe Wicks’ on YouTube each day. You can catch it live at 9 am but don’t worry if you miss it at that time, they are uploaded onto YouTube so you can do it at any time that you like.

Write sentences using our sentence starters below and don’t forget to draw a picture with your sentences

I see a…….                                           for example: I see a dog.

I have a …….                                       for example: I have a cat.

Ask someone at home to log onto the website folensonline.ie and register with them to get access to planet maths games and resources. When you have registered, search for Planet Maths Junior Infants and start playing the games.

Twinkl Original Story time at 1 – 2pm every day. Just search https://www.twinkl.ie/home-learning-hub and scroll down to story time and click on the green tab that says ‘watch now’. Then sit back and enjoy listening to some great stories.

Make sure to keep asking if you can help out at home. We hope you are all keeping your bedrooms tidy and making your bed every morningJ. We can’t wait to get back to school to see you all as we really miss our class.
