5th class visited the current 1916 exhibition 'Tipperary - Road To The Rising' last week.
Important items on display include:
• An Original Proclamation
• British Soldier’s tunic
• Irish Volunteer belt and membership cards
• Irish Citizen Army hat and pins
• Kathleen Clarke’s prison craft
• Frank Drohan’s colt revolver
• Thomas MacDonagh’s lapel badges
• Pierse McCan’s prayer book and waistcoat to name but a few artifacts on display...
The students also visited the museum's new 1916 Training Room where they engaged in a variety of exercises required to be a Volunteer during 1916 including: Printing Techniques, Target Practice, Uniform Assembly, Proclamation Readings and the museum's first ever ‘Selfie Booth’ to record their training.
A big thank you to Julia, the museum's education officer, for giving a talk to the students and answering questions about the artifacts on display.
